Academic Program Review Guidelines

The purpose of Academic Program Review is to provide feedback to the academic unit and the university on the performance of its curriculum, the achievement of learning outcomes, research and scholarly activities and accomplishments, and service, thereby allowing each unit to plan for improvement or change to its programs. It is not an evaluation of individual students or of individual faculty or staff.

Academic program review is based on a process in which faculty identify the most appropriate objectives for specific programs (e.g., general education, undergraduate and graduate majors) and for scholarly activity and service in the unit. A wide variety of measures are used to discover as accurately as possible whether the academic unit and the university are achieving the announced objectives. In addition to institutional and program benefits, academic program review supports our accreditation with SACS.
